I have written about some seriously over-priced, extravagant nonsense (remember the $25,000 toilet?) but even I cannot deal with what I'm about to show you. Usually I love me some opulence and decadence. I'm Glamour Whore, opulence and decadence are 2 of my favorite adjectives. And I sure as hell love diamonds. However... These $15,000 diamond and gold contact lenses?! Oh. Hell. No. They are the tackiest things I have ever seen in my life. Ever. I already LOATHE colored contacts and the people who wear them, but these are on a whole other level of fuckery. The article in The Daily Mail said the doctor who created them was inspired by the jewels in his wife's teeth. I quit.

They are part of the company's La SER Jewelry range and will be available in four designs: 18 diamonds on white gold, 18 diamonds on yellow gold, just white gold and yellow gold.

Mr Chawan said that the lenses weigh 5 grams in total, sit between 6mm and 9mm away from the cornea and hold water in front of it to soothe the eye.

Shekhar Eye Research says that the design will not stop oxygen from getting to the eye.

They can be customised to correct any visual impairment and are comfortable to wear, they added.
